Hafslundsøy, Sarpsborg
Hafslundsøy is a small river island in Norway's longest river, Glomma, just two kilometres northeast of Sarpsborg's town centre. Locals simply call it "Øya" — The Island. A pleasant 1.5-kilometre waterside trail winds along its shore, offering gentle walking with open views over the river and surrounding flat farmland. Beyond the island's shore path, the adjacent Hafslundskogen forest offers a richer trail network between the Hafslund and Nipa areas, where remnants of old farms and crofters' cottages hint at centuries of rural life along the river.
