Wat Wiang Klang

Wat Wiang Klang is a small village temple serving the Ban Wiang Klang community in Tambon Tha Sai, on the agricultural southern edge of Chiang Rai's Mueang district. Officially established as a Buddhist temple in November 2004 and consecrated with royal boundary stones in June 2009, it is a working Mahanikaya monastery and the spiritual center of a rural Thai community. Though it lacks the grand historical monuments of Chiang Rai's city-center temples, Wat Wiang Klang offers visitors an unpretentious look at everyday Lanna village Buddhism — the temple compound where locals gather for merit-making, festivals, and ordination ceremonies.
