AT A GLANCE
Why go?
LaStrange Lake is a small, easygoing inland lake tucked into Lincoln Township in central Michigan. At just 13.4 acres with roughly 0.6 miles of shoreline, it is the kind of quiet freshwater pond that rewards a slow visit rather than a packed itinerary: a walk along the bank, a paddle across still water, or an afternoon spent casting a line from a small boat or the shore.↗↗
Set low on the landscape at about 235 feet above sea level, it sits among the patchwork of farms, woodlots and small lakes that make up Michigan's Lower Peninsula countryside. Its modest scale and lack of crowds give it a relaxed, local-character feel, well suited to families and anglers who prefer an unhurried day out of doors.↗
A pocket-sized lake for paddling and fishing
On a warm day the lake's calm, shallow water is ideal for a gentle outing on the water. Kayaking and canoeing are natural fits here, letting you trace the short shoreline and drift past the reeds and treed banks at your own pace, while small-boat boating and swimming round out the list of things to do. Because the lake is compact, you can take in the whole of it in a single leisurely loop.
