AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Saginaw Children's Zoo is a charming, hands-on wildlife park set on more than 10 acres of tree-filled parkland in Saginaw, Michigan. With over 50 species of animals — including African penguins, a critically endangered cotton-top tamarin, North American river otters, and a Hoffmann's two-toed sloth — the zoo blends animal encounters with imaginative play areas, colorful gardens, a miniature train, and the region's only hand-carved carousel.↗↗↗
What sets this zoo apart is its commitment to interactive discovery: children can dig for dinosaur bones, explore a living Michigan wetland, swing through a monkey-themed playground, or feed a goat up close — all at a family-friendly admission price that keeps the experience accessible.↗↗
Meet the Animals
The zoo is home to over 50 species spanning five continents. Highlights include a small colony of African penguins, the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin found only in Colombia's northwestern forests, and the slow-and-steady Hoffmann's two-toed sloth. North American river otters entertain visitors with their playful antics, while bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, and turkeys soar and strut among native and exotic bird species.
