AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Huxin Bridge and Huxin Pavilion are the graceful centrepiece of Lichi Pond (麗池) inside Hsinchu Park, in the city's East District. A gently meandering zigzag bridge curves across the water and runs out to a small pavilion at the heart of the lake, and that pavilion-on-a-bridge silhouette is the spot locals and photographers go to for the postcard reflection of roof and water. The whole ensemble sits in a leafy, water-framed park that has been quietly rebuilt into one of Hsinchu's most atmospheric corners.↗↗↗
It works best as the visual anchor of a half-day loop around Hsinchu Park: the pavilion for the photo, then the historic Japanese Lakeside Ryotei buildings, the Glass Museum, the zoo and the old-garden paths all ringing the same pond. Open around the clock with free access to the outdoor grounds, it suits an early stroll or an evening of glowing night reflections as much as a daytime visit.↗↗↗
