AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Çeşmeönü Plajı is a small, sheltered swimming cove on the Black Sea coast at Kaleyaka, in the Cittaslow town of Perşembe in Ordu province. Tucked along the coastal road just west of the town centre, it is one of the region's most-loved local beaches, rated around 4.4 by hundreds of visitors and praised above all for the calm, glassy water that its cove shape protects from the usual Black Sea swell.↗↗↗
What makes it appealing is its relaxed, family-friendly character: a soft mix of sand, shingle and stone underfoot, shallow water that stays gentle near the shore, and a green-hilled backdrop that feels a world away from the open, wave-pounded coast elsewhere. It suits a slow beach day—swim, sunbathe, walk the shoreline, then sit with a tea or a plate of fish at one of the seafront cafés right on the sand.↗↗
Why people come to Çeşmeönü
The Black Sea is famous for being moody, but Çeşmeönü earns its reputation as one of Ordu's calmest patches of water. Because the beach sits in a small bay rather than on the open shoreline, the sea here often lies flat—visitors regularly describe it as 'like a sheet'—and the shallowness close to the edge makes it a reassuring choice for families with children and for weaker swimmers. The shoreline itself is natural and unpolished: fine sand blended with pebbles and stone, with a seabed that alternates between sandy and rocky.
