AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Düden Park is Antalya's most spectacular urban natural attraction: a lush green park built around the point where the Düden River plunges 40 meters off a coastal cliff and crashes directly into the Mediterranean Sea. This is the only waterfall in Turkey that falls straight into the sea, and it happens within the city itself, just 8 kilometers east of the old town.↗↗↗
The park surrounds the falls with viewing terraces, shaded walking paths, picnic areas, playgrounds, and sports facilities, making it a place where a five-minute encounter with raw natural power can turn into an entire lazy afternoon.↗↗
The Waterfall That Falls Into the Sea
The Düden River travels through Antalya in a way that defies expectation. Rising from springs some 40 kilometers away, it disappears underground for 18 kilometers before reappearing in the city, flowing through the urban landscape, and finally reaching a cliff edge on the Lara coast. Here it free-falls 40 meters directly into the Mediterranean. In ancient times, the river was known as Katarrhaktes — "the waterfall" — a name that tells you how long this spectacle has impressed visitors.
