AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Sai Thong National Park sits in the Phang Hoei mountain range of Chaiyaphum Province in northeastern Thailand, covering roughly 319 square kilometers of forested ridges, waterfalls, dramatic cliff viewpoints, and — each rainy season — breathtaking fields of wild Siam tulips.↗↗
The park is best known for Thung Bua Sawan, its highland meadows blanketed in pink and white Krachiao (Siam tulip) flowers from June through August, combined with broad-waterfall Sai Thong and the thrilling rock ledge of Pha Ham Hod. Far from Thailand's crowded tourist circuit, it offers an authentic introduction to the mountain forests of Isan.↗↗
The Siam Tulip Fields of Thung Bua Sawan
Every year at the start of the rainy season, the highland plateaus of Sai Thong burst into color as thousands of Siam tulips (Dok Krachiao) bloom across open meadows known as Thung Bua Sawan. Unlike the pink-only fields at neighboring Pa Hin Ngam National Park, Sai Thong produces both pink and white blossoms, creating a two-tone carpet that stretches between cliff edges and forest margins.
