AT A GLANCE
Why go?
On the south bank of the Danube, where the sprawling concrete housing estate of Petržalka spreads out below the historic hilltop, the Bratislava Viewpoint offers the rare and rather moving sightline that few river-crossing visitors think to look for: the capital seen in reverse. From this lookout on Viedenská cesta (Vienna Road), the eye travels back across the river to Bratislava Castle, the spires of the Old Town, and the bridges that stitch the two halves of the city together, while the panelák blocks and the floodplain forests of southern Petržalka fan out behind you.↗↗
It is a small but rewarding stop for anyone already crossing into Petržalka on foot or tram, and a handy way to take in the skyline of a city best understood from above. Listed among Bratislava's viewpoints by the official tourism board and rated a high 4.8 by visitors, it draws people who want a different angle on the capital — not from the castle hill, but from the vast residential neighbourhood facing it.↗↗
