Church of Saint Pardoux
The Church of Saint Pardoux (Église Saint-Pardoux) stands in the heart of Bugeat, a small town on the granite plateau of Millevaches in Corrèze, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Built largely in the 14th and 15th centuries on the site of an earlier Romanesque church, it is a protected Historic Monument whose sturdy bell gable, slate roof and sculpted stonework make it the focal point of the village. What makes the church special is the layering of nearly seven centuries of Limousin craftsmanship under one roof: a medieval cruciform plan, a granite baptismal font, carved corbels bearing symbols of the four evangelists, 17th-century woodcarving by the Limoges master Bertrand Buxeraud, and vivid 20th-century stained glass donated to the commune.
