préhistoire Garden
The Prehistory Garden (Jardin de la Préhistoire) in Auneau-Bleury-Saint-Symphorien is a rare place where genuine archaeological research meets a hands-on outdoor experience. Set along the banks of the Aunay river amid a reedbed wetland, this site weaves an educational trail through a natural landscape while presenting life-size reconstructions of Mesolithic and Neolithic life based on excavations conducted nearby. Created and run by the Société Alnéloise d'Archéologie et d'Histoire Locale (SAAHL), an association founded in 1979, the garden translates decades of scientific fieldwork into a walkable, family-friendly format. The reconstructions here are not fantasy interpretations but direct visualizations of what professional archaeologists found at the nearby Château park dig.
