Bad Waldsee
Bad Waldsee is a spa town in Upper Swabia, Baden-Württemberg, perched on a narrow isthmus between two lakes — the lively city lake (Stadtsee) and the wild, wooded castle lake (Schlosssee). Its remarkably preserved medieval old town, thermal baths fed by Swabia's hottest spring, world-class museum of mobile travel, and deep carnival traditions make it one of the region's most rewarding day-trip destinations. The town's history stretches back over a thousand years: first mentioned in 926, granted city rights in 1298, and ruled in turn by the Habsburgs and the Waldburg steward family before joining Württemberg in 1806. That layered past is visible everywhere in the half-timbered lanes and late Gothic civic buildings.
