Col de Coursegoules
Col de Coursegoules is a mountain pass at roughly 1,002 metres in the Alpes-Maritimes, perched above a fortified hill village on the edge of the Préalpes d'Azur. Well known to road cyclists who tackle it from Carros Village or from the Gorges du Loup side, the col rewards riders and walkers alike with sweeping views toward the Mediterranean on clear days and a backdrop of the forested Cheiron massif. The pass sits right next to Coursegoules, a village whose history runs from Roman roads to royal-town privileges, with two listed monuments — the Romanesque Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church and the early-medieval Chapelle Saint-Michel — reachable on foot from the summit. Whether you ride, hike or simply drive up from Vence or Gréolières, the Col de Coursegoules makes an unhurried and rewarding day-trip from the Côte d'Azur coast.
