Wallaby Peak
Wallaby Peak is a minor named mountain summit on Manunda Station, a working pastoral property in the remote northern fringe of South Australia's Flinders Ranges, around 450-plus kilometres north of Adelaide. It is a geographic feature recorded on the map rather than a developed tourist attraction: there is no established trail, lookout, signage, car park or visitor facility attached to it, and the ground sits on private grazing land. Its real interest is location. Wallaby Peak belongs to a wide, semi-arid outback country of sheep and cattle stations, low red ranges and long horizons, close to places like Yunta and Olary. For travellers, it is best understood as one of the many quiet summits of the Flinders and Outback region — a spot for map readers, peak-listers and outback-road trippers to note — while the organised walking, gorges, campgrounds and lookouts most visitors seek lie in Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park some distance to the south.
