Rio Caimitillo
The Caimitillo River (Río Caimitillo) is a forested watercourse threading the green highlands of the Caimitillo corregimiento, in the hills north of Panama City within Panamá Province. Small and rural in character, it belongs to the same rainy-season river country that feeds the greater Canal watershed, and its banks are part of the patchwork of farms, primary-growth slopes and Emberá communities that give this corner of the country its quiet, jungle-edge atmosphere. There is no ticketed attraction or formal beach here; the river is appreciated the way local rivers are in Panama — as a cool, leafy place to stand by the water, watch the current move over stones, and breathe the damp forest air a short drive from the capital. It is best treated as the heart of a wider excursion into Caimitillo's river and lake country, where Emberá communities welcome visitors for piragua rides and cultural visits.
