Kida Shrine
Kida Shrine (木田神社) is a historic Shinto shrine in central Fukui City, founded in 871 when the deity Susanoo was invited from the famous Tsushima Shrine near Nagoya to serve as guardian of the Kida district. For over a millennium it has stood at the heart of a temple-gate town known for its old houses and long-established shops, surviving fires and the devastating 1948 Fukui earthquake to remain a living center of local faith. Today visitors find not only the main shrine complex but four distinctive precinct shrines within its grounds — including one dedicated to the legendary onmyōji Abe no Seimei — along with a dinosaur-themed stamp program unique to Fukui's "Dinosaur Kingdom" identity and creative votive plaques that turn a simple visit into something memorable.
