Junkanoo Museum
The Junkanoo Museum on Providenciales is a hands-on cultural experience that brings the sound, color, and history of Caribbean Junkanoo to life. Run by Kitchener Penn—a Bahamian-Turks and Caicos musician who organized the islands' first Junkanoo festival in the 1980s—the two-room museum showcases elaborate costumes, percussion instruments, and props from the local Junkanoo band We Funk, and invites visitors to try them on and play them. A visit typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes and combines storytelling, live instrument demonstrations, and the chance to put on a feathered costume. It is one of the few places on Providenciales where travelers can engage directly with the living traditions behind the islands' most colorful cultural celebration.
