Wat Khuan Noi
Wat Khuan Noi (วัดควนน้อย) is a quiet community temple in the rice-farming heart of southern Thailand, set in the small town of Mae Lan in Pattani Province. A Wat Rat of the Mahanikay order—meaning a common parish temple rather than one run by the royal sangha—it grew out of local faith in the late 1980s and remains the spiritual anchor of the surrounding farm villages. This is not a grand tourist monument but a living temple: traditional Thai buildings in a green, natural compound, where villagers gather for merit-making, ordinations and the great annual Kathin ceremony. For travelers exploring the deep south beyond the famous Luang Pu Thuad shrines, it offers an honest glimpse of how Buddhism is practiced in ordinary Thai country life.
