Cachoeira do Rio Bonito
Cachoeira do Rio Bonito is a clear-water plunge tucked into the Mata Atlântica forest of Parque Estadual do Jurupará, in rural Ibiúna, about ninety kilometres from the city of São Paulo. A short, easy walking trail delivers you to a fall more than ten metres high that drops into a calm natural pool—exactly the kind of secluded, swimmable waterfall that makes the São Paulo Serra do Mar fringe worth the drive. What sets it apart is how rewarding the effort is. The path is gentle enough for families and older visitors, yet the surroundings feel genuinely wild: protected Atlantic Forest, birdsong and a wooden deck and bench positioned to sit and simply watch the water. Because entry to the park is by reservation only and visitation stays low, you are unlikely to find it crowded.
