Wat Khao Noi
Wat Khao Noi (วัดเขาน้อย, "the temple of the little hill") is a quiet working parish temple in the rural Phrommani countryside just outside Nakhon Nayok town. Founded in 1890, it belongs to Thailand's largest monastic order, the Maha Nikaya, and remains a local temple run by and for the surrounding farming villages rather than a curated tourist attraction. For a traveler already exploring Nakhon Nayok, it offers something the big-name sights rarely give: an unposed look at how an ordinary Thai community temple lives, prays and marks the calendar. The grounds are a generous open plot of roughly eleven rai (about four acres) on Ban Khao Noi village land, and the temple has grown in clear phases over the last century — an old sermon hall from 1950, simple wooden monks' quarters from 1956, and a newer ordination hall consecrated in the early 1990s. Today the resident sangha is small, a handful of monks under their abbot, and the rhythm of merit-making and the annual Kathin robe-offering still drives the temple year.
