Jizoson
Jizōson (地蔵尊) in Seya Ward is one of Yokohama's quiet village Jizō shrines—a small place of worship honouring Jizō, the beloved bodhisattva who guards children and travellers. It sits in the old residential heart of Hongo, a neighbourhood that still keeps its roadside stone Buddhas, and is listed by Google Maps as a place of worship. Rather than a grand temple complex, it belongs to a humble and very human tradition of folk Buddhism: a single carved or enshrined figure of Jizō, tended by the local community, standing at the edge of the lane. Such spots are the quiet, local face of Japanese faith—less about sightseeing than about a neighbourhood's memory and devotion.
