Tin Hou Temple (Alor Gajah)
The Tin Hou Temple (天后庙) in Alor Gajah is a small Hainanese community temple devoted to Mazu — the Chinese sea goddess also honoured as Tian Hou, Tin Hou or the Heavenly Mother. Set in a residential pocket of this inland Malacca town rather than on the coast, it is run by the local Qiongzhou (Hainan) devotees' association and is a living place of worship first and a sightseeing stop second. For visitors it offers something most guidebook temples in Malaysia no longer do: an unhurried, genuine slice of local Chinese devotional life, where incense smoke, red-and-gold altar decorations and the quiet rituals of regular worshippers tell the story of the community that built it.
