Snake River
The Snake River is a small, high-altitude freestone stream that tumbles through Summit County, Colorado, from the Continental Divide near Montezuma past Keystone Resort and into Dillon Reservoir. A tributary of the Blue River, it offers a rugged alpine character — cobble-bottomed pocket water lined with fir and spruce — that makes it one of the most charming and accessible fishing streams in the Rocky Mountains. This is not the mighty Snake of Idaho and Wyoming. At roughly 15 miles long, this Colorado Snake River is intimate and walkable, with easy access from the resort village of Keystone. It's a place where you can cast for brilliant brook trout in the morning, then stroll to a mountaintop restaurant for lunch.
