Bēnes ezers
Bēne Lake (Bēnes ezers), also known as Bēne Mill Lake, is a picturesque artificial reservoir in the small town of Bēne in Latvia's Dobele Municipality. Created in the 19th century by damming the River Auce to power a local mill, this winding body of water stretches 1.6 kilometres and covers 24.6 hectares, making it a distinctive green-blue ribbon through the Zemgale countryside. The lake's story is inseparable from the Bēne Mill that once ground flour and processed wool here. Today the lake remains a beloved local recreation spot with a swimming area, abundant fish, and gently sloping banks — a quiet, authentic Latvian countryside experience away from tourist crowds.
