Panchashil Buddha Vihar
Panchashil Buddha Vihar is a small Buddhist temple serving the community of Sawari, a quiet village on Maharashtra's Konkan coast in Ratnagiri district. Named after the Panchsheel—the Five Precepts central to Buddhist ethical practice—this vihara is a place of prayer, meditation, and Dhamma learning for local devotees. Set among the lush green hills and rice paddies of the coastal Konkan hinterland, it reflects the living Buddhist heritage that has taken root in rural Maharashtra, particularly in communities inspired by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's advocacy of the Buddha's path.
