Blatnička
Blatnička Reservoir is a 18-hectare body of water set on the Svodnice stream in South Moravia's gentle vineyard country, just outside the small village of Blatnička in the Hodonín District. Built in 1978 as a multifunctional water works — flood protection, vineyard irrigation, and fish farming — it has become a quiet local landmark and the centerpiece of a beloved annual fish harvest festival that draws hundreds of visitors each autumn. What makes this reservoir special is not grand scenery but authentic rural character: a broad stretch of open water backed by low hills and farmland, maintained by Czech state forests, and alive with the traditional Bohemian connection between water, wine, and fish. The October fish harvest is a genuine local event with a market atmosphere rather than a staged spectacle.
