Chokar Dhār
Chokar Dhār is a forested ridge above the small village of Chokkar, set in the mid-Himalayan hills of Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, at roughly 1,500–1,700 metres (about 5,000–5,500 feet) above sea level. Pincode 173104 places it under Sangrah tehsil, in the Solan division, a patchwork of pine, oak and deodar slopes, terraced fields and scattered hill hamlets that lies on the lower, greener flank of the outer Himalaya. It is a quiet, off-the-beaten-track kind of place rather than a built-up sight: a ridge to walk, look out from, and breathe mountain air on. What gives the area its pull is its position — Chokar sits only a couple of kilometres from Nohra, the trailhead village for the Churdhar trek to the highest peak of the Shivalik/outer Himalaya range — so the ridge forms part of the same forested country favoured by unhurried walkers and village-to-village ramblers.
