AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Dąbie Lake Beach (Kąpielisko Dąbie) is Szczecin's most popular urban swimming spot, set on the shores of Lake Dąbie — the fourth-largest lake in Poland and the biggest in the West Pomeranian region. A wide sandy beach and a generous lawn strip draw up to 2,000 visitors on hot summer days, making it the city's go-to escape from the concrete.↗↗
The Setting
Lake Dąbie sits in the right-bank (eastern) part of Szczecin, a broad body of water that feeds into the Oder's eastern distributary. The beach faces the lake across roughly 150 metres of shoreline, with a 20-metre rescue pier marking out a 100-metre stretch of supervised swimming. The combination of a long sandy beach and a wide strip of soft grass behind it gives the site a laid-back, almost seaside atmosphere — unusual for a landlocked lake setting in northern Poland.↗↗
The beach is accessed directly along Żaglowa Street in the Dąbie district, an area historically linked to Szczecin's port and maritime identity. Its setting on open water with views across to the far shore makes it feel far removed from an urban environment.
