AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Ojo de Agua Lampazos is a spring-fed recreation park in the heart of Lampazos de Naranjo, a small town in the semi-arid far north of Nuevo León. Built around a natural eye of water—an 'ojo de agua'—the municipal balneario turns a desert oasis into a family day out, with pools, water slides, a wave pool, picnic grills under tall sabinos, and a zip-line circuit running through the trees.↗↗↗
About two hours from Monterrey, it is one of the region's favorite weekend escapes from the city heat, and an easy, low-cost stop for travelers heading across northern Nuevo León. Visitors rate it as a friendly, well-kept green space that is great for kids.↗↗
A natural spring at the center of it all
The whole park takes its name and its water from a single natural spring. The pools here are filled straight from that 'ojo,' and the open spring area at its core is free to visit, with the option to ride around it in small paddle boats. Giant sabinos—the broad, shade-giving cypresses of northern Mexico's riverlands—ring the grounds, giving the balneario a leafy, oasis-like feel that stands out in this dry corner of the state.
