AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Tolinggula Pantai is a small coastal village in Gorontalo Utara (North Gorontalo Regency), sitting at the far western edge of Gorontalo Province along the Trans-Sulawesi highway, where the island of Sulawesi borders Central Sulawesi. Its name — "Pantai" simply means "beach" in Indonesian — reflects its identity as a fishing community facing open waters, and it has been registered as an emerging tourism village by the national Ministry of Tourism.↗↗
What draws attention here is the raw natural setting: white-sand coastline, a nearby island (Pulau Tolinggula) with living coral reefs teeming with reef fish, and a sea still used for small-scale fishing and simple marine recreation. Provincial authorities are in the process of designating the waters around Pulau Tolinggula as a marine conservation zone, a step that could make this corner of Sulawesi known for snorkeling and reef appreciation in the years ahead. For now, the village remains a quiet, undeveloped frontier rather than a packaged destination.↗↗
