AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Set on a wooded hillside in the Miskolctapolca district, Miskolc Bobsled is Hungary's fastest forest bobsled track and one of the city's most thrilling year-round attractions. An 800-metre stainless-steel chute winds between century-old trees, dropping 54 metres as riders steer their own sled at up to 42 km/h — no snow required, in any season.↗↗
Opened in the summer of 2007 beside the Miskolctapolca Cave Bath and the Boating Lake, it has become a favourite of adventurous locals and visitors alike. You control your own speed with a handbrake, automatic brakes cap the maximum, and the whole course is floodlit for after-dark runs — a rarity in Hungary. From age three to ninety-nine, anyone can take the ride.↗↗↗
An alpine slide through the forest
The track reads like a giant sea snake coiling through the trees: a series of bumps, sweeping left and right curves and short straight runs that bring you racing close to the trunks — always at a safe distance, but close enough to pump up the adrenaline. Built to a high standard of precision by Wiegand, the German company regarded as a world leader in bobsled-track construction, the course guarantees a smooth and secure descent.
