AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Set in the Sabuša cove on the north-eastern tip of Ugljan, Nudist Beach Jelenica (FKK Jelenica) is one of the Zadar archipelago's best-loved naturist hideaways. A rocky cove with a sandy, pebble-strewn bottom, it is ringed by centuries-old Aleppo pines, wild Mediterranean scrub and olive groves, opening onto the startlingly clear turquoise water that makes this stretch of the Adriatic famous.↗↗↗
Deliberately undeveloped and left in its natural state, Jelenica offers no beach bars, sunbeds or changing cabins — just nature, which is precisely the point. It sits barely a kilometre above the seaside village of Kukljica (a 25-minute walk or a short bike or boat ride away), with the historic city of Zadar only about 9.6 km across the channel, so it pairs easily with a base on Ugljan or on the mainland.↗↗
A beach for naturists, quiet-rest seekers and sailors who like a pristine, uncrowded cove; it rewards those who pack light and respect its free-body-culture (FKK) etiquette.↗
