AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Tucked at the end of a port road on Cabras Island, where the island's thin spine folds into Apra Harbor, Family Beach is one of Guam's most quietly beloved local hangouts. It isn't a resort strip or a postcard-perfect bay; it is a small white-sand shore opening onto some of the calmest water on the island, sheltered by the harbour from the open Pacific swell. That stillness is the whole appeal: easy wading, gentle snorkeling, shade under the trees, and a relaxed, family-and-picnic atmosphere that draws more Chamorro regulars than tourists.↗↗↗
The beach is managed by the Port Authority of Guam and is open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Casual visits to swim or dip your toes in need no permit; it is only when you bring a cookout, a group gathering, a canopy or a tent that the port's permit process kicks in. The result is a beach that feels genuinely local and unpolished—minimal facilities, big character, and a clear view across the working side of Apra Harbor.↗↗
