AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Sri Sri Radha Gobinda Temple in Deobhog, Narayanganj, is a welcoming ISKCON center dedicated to the deities Radha and Govinda (Krishna). Set in a neighborhood just south of Dhaka along the Shitalakshya River, this temple offers a calm spiritual refuge amid the bustle of one of Bangladesh's busiest industrial towns. Visitors describe its atmosphere as clean, peaceful, and filled with devotional warmth, whether they arrive for the early-morning Mangal Aarti or the lively evening kirtan.↗↗
As part of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness — which now maintains 65 temples across Bangladesh — this Narayanganj center hosts daily worship, congregational chanting, and community programs rooted in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. It is a gathering place for local devotees and a quiet destination for anyone seeking spiritual solace.↗↗
What Makes It Special
The temple's name — Radha Gobinda — refers to the divine couple at the heart of Gaudiya Vaishnavism: Radha, the embodiment of devotional love, and Govinda, a name for Krishna as the all-attractive Supreme Lord. Daily worship at the altar centers on these deities, with traditional rituals including flower offerings, incense, and the circling of camphor or ghee lamps during aarti. The ISKCON tradition emphasizes that the temple's main purpose is not spectacle but sustained devotion: the rhythmic chanting of the Hare Krishna mahamantra, the reading of Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam scriptures, and the sharing of prasadam — sanctified vegetarian food offered first to the deities.
