The best time to visit Pattaya is from November to February, when the weather is drier and cooler, making it the most pleasant stretch of the year. March through May is the hottest period, with high humidity and temperatures often exceeding 30°C. The rainy season runs from June to October, with September and October typically seeing the heaviest downpours. For beach time and outdoor sightseeing, aim for the cool, dry months.
Central Pattaya suits first-timers, with easy access to Pattaya Beach, Walking Street, and shops; the Arbour Hotel and Residence and Somerset Pattaya are here. North Pattaya is quieter and more upscale, near the Dusit Thani Pattaya and Cape Dara Resort. Jomtien Beach offers a relaxed, family-friendly vibe, with the Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach and Renaissance Pattaya Resort & Spa. Bang Saray is a peaceful, local-feeling coastal area, home to Cross Pattaya Oceanphere and Sea Sand Sun Resort and Villas.
Start with Pattaya Walking Street for its famous nightlife and beachfront energy. The Sanctuary of Truth Museum is a massive wooden temple with intricate carvings. Nongnooch Pattaya Garden offers themed gardens and cultural shows. Pattaya Beach is the main stretch for swimming and people-watching. Phra Tamnak Mountain Viewpoint gives panoramic city and bay views.
You can take a full-day tour to the nearby tropical islands for snorkeling and a buffet lunch, or join a discovery tour that includes the floating market and viewpoints. A Bangkok day trip with a canal cruise is also available. For a different pace, a dirt bike tour explores the countryside around Pattaya.
Plan 3 to 4 days. In 2 days you can cover Pattaya Walking Street, Pattaya Beach, and the Sanctuary of Truth Museum. Add a third day for Nongnooch Pattaya Garden and Phra Tamnak Mountain Viewpoint. If you want a day trip to nearby islands or Bangkok, add one more day.
