Shedd Aquarium
Shedd Aquarium is Chicago's dazzling portal to the underwater world, housed in a stunning white marble temple on the Museum Campus lakefront. Since opening in 1930, it has drawn millions to face-to-face encounters with beluga whales, sea otters, green anacondas, sharks, coral reefs, and thousands of aquatic species from every continent. A National Historic Landmark celebrated for its Beaux-Arts architecture, Shedd combines nearly a century of aquatic wonder with cutting-edge exhibits that reimagine how visitors connect with water and the creatures who depend on it.
