General Hu Lian Memorial Hall
The General Hu Lian Memorial Hall is a free, spacious museum set within the Guningtou Peace Memorial Park in Jinning Township, Kinmen. Dedicated to one of the island's most consequential military leaders, it chronicles General Hu Lian's extraordinary life—from Whampoa-trained officer and battlefield commander in three landmark battles, to nation-builder who transformed war-ravaged Kinmen from a barren outpost into a livable community. Opened in January 2012 and now managed by Kinmen National Park Administration, the hall sits on the grounds of the former Lincuo artillery position—a site that saw brutal close-quarters combat during the 1949 Battle of Guningtou and endured heavy counter-bombardment during the 1958 August 23 Crisis. The exhibition, primarily on the lower underground level, combines detailed panels, multimedia, and scheduled film screenings to bring Hu Lian's story and the broader military history of Kinmen vividly to life.
