Balneario Agua Hedionda (Nueva Administración)
Balneario Agua Hedionda is Cuautla's signature thermal-spa complex, built around a powerful natural spring whose sulfur-rich, mineral-loaded water has drawn bathers since pre-Columbian times. Despite the literal translation of its name—'stinky water,' a nod to the unmistakable rotten-egg scent of the sulfur—the water here is prized for its therapeutic qualities, and the site has been a recognized wellness destination since it was formally inaugurated in 1928. Today it is much more than a single spring: a sprawling day-spa and water park with one of the largest swimming pools in Mexico and Latin America, plus slides, a diving platform, sauna and hydromassage tubs, lockers, private pools, food service, green lawns, a jogging track and an outdoor gym. For travelers, it offers an easy, affordable half-day of soaking, swimming and relaxation in warm mineral water just outside Cuautla's center.
