A small shrine of matchmaking-god.(Kirishima-Kinkōwan National Park Special Protection Zone.)

Deep within the subtropical forest at Cape Sata — the southernmost tip of Japan's main islands — a small shrine to a matchmaking deity sits among towering sago palms and banyan trees. This moss-draped sacred spot is part of Misaki Shrine, a sanctuary founded in 708 AD and revered for centuries as the guardian of Japan's southern coast. Today it draws visitors seeking blessings for love and family, wrapped in an atmosphere that feels more tropical island than mainland Kyushu.
