Sree Anthimahakalan Kavu kulappully
Sree Anthimahakalan Kavu is an ancient Shiva temple nestled in the quiet town of Kulappully, just over a kilometre from Shoranur Junction in Kerala's Palakkad district. Known locally as one of the oldest Mahadeva temples in the area, it is revered for its unusual wooden deity image of Anthimahakalan — a form of Lord Shiva — and for the large, tranquil temple pond that gives the place its alternate name, Anthimahakalan Chira. The temple sits amid a lush natural valley, combining traditional Kerala architecture with the serene atmosphere of a sacred grove. Devotees and visitors alike describe it as a place where spirituality and nature merge effortlessly — an old banyan tree shelters a circular seating platform on the approach path, the pond reflects the sky in its vast stillness, and the evening crowd that gathers after 5 PM adds a warm pulse of community devotion.
