Hazarat Mastan Vali Dargah
In the old quarter of Guntakal, a dusty railway town in the dry Rayalasecha interior of Andhra Pradesh, the Hazarat Mastan Vali Dargah is the place locals and passing travellers seek out for quiet and for blessings. A working mosque and shrine in Tilak Nagar (Old Guntakal), it has gathered a rating of around 4.6 from hundreds of visitors who describe it as a calm, well-kept sanctuary that seems to radiate a peaceful energy long after the crowd has gone. What makes the dargah special is its openness. It honours a Sufi saint—devotees know him as Hazrat Syed Ali Akbar, "Mastan Vali"—belonging to the Suhrawardi order and remembered for a healing, welcoming touch. Hindus, Muslims and people of every faith come here side by side to make duaa, tie threads of hope and simply sit a while; during the annual Urs the shrine draws crowds from across four states. It is, in other words, one of those Deccan places where devotion quietly outruns religion.
