Khwabgah (Royal Bed-room)
The Khwabgah — literally the 'Dream Palace' — was Emperor Akbar's private residential quarter within the palatial complex at Fatehpur Sikri, his red sandstone capital city built between 1571 and 1585. Set just south of the Anup Talao pool, this double-storeyed building served as the most intimate space in the entire imperial compound: part bedchamber, part library, part private audience hall. Its walls still carry faded murals of court scenes and painted Persian inscriptions comparing the building to paradise, making it one of the most richly decorated surviving interiors from Akbar's reign.
