GoalMine
Tucked beneath the stands of the KRC Genk football stadium, GoalMine is a playful, hands-on immersion into the world of the beautiful game rather than a cabinet of trophies and old shirts. Billed as Belgium's first interactive football experience, it spreads across more than 600 m² and builds roughly three-quarters of its route around active participation — pressing, playing, watching, listening and testing yourself — so that children and lifelong supporters alike can have fun with football instead of just looking at it. What gives GoalMine its local soul is the link between football and the coal mines that once defined Limburg. The route traces both the international history of the sport and the regional story of the 'mijnploegen' — the mining teams born beside the pits — paying tribute to their pioneers and framing football as a genuinely social force, seen through footage, photos, sounds, interviews and touchscreens drawn from clubs across Europe.
