Adelaide Holocaust Museum and Andrew Steiner Education Centre
The Adelaide Holocaust Museum and Andrew Steiner Education Centre is South Australia's dedicated museum telling the stories of the Holocaust — with a unique focus on survivors who made South Australia their home. Housed in heritage-listed Fennescey House beside St Francis Xavier's Cathedral in Adelaide's city centre, it was founded by Andrew Steiner OAM, a Budapest-born Holocaust survivor who spent three decades teaching South Australian students about the Shoah before creating this permanent institution. The museum was officially launched on 9 November 2020 — the anniversary of Kristallnacht — and has documented more than 450 South Australian Holocaust survivors. It is currently undergoing a major expansion that will double its exhibition space, with the first gallery scheduled to reopen to the public in late 2026.
